I only get to be cool here. Back home I'm just normal.
[once she seems like she's settled he gives her a pat on the head. she can feel whatever skill he has take effect almost instantly: it soothes, eases muscle tension, relaxes the body and the mind. she can feel the edges of sleep starting to creep in.]
[She wasn't expecting that—it catches her a little by surprise, but it doesn't register as much as it could due to the actual skill setting in, and she gives a tired blink
She's already exhausted, too, so it's setting in incredibly fast for her.]
[if it didn't set in fast he wouldn't be able to use it as often as he does--
as long as he's patting her head, keeping his voice low and soothing, it feels like the start of a natural sleep settling in. her limbs get heavy and it's harder and harder to keep her eyes open]
The inventory is normal; all hunters have one. The skills depend on the person. It depends on your natural disposition, you could say. Some people can control fire or water or wind or lightning.
[She has a bonus of liking headpats in general too, so like. That's helping. The only person who knows she likes headpats is Sonata, so she has been suffering from a lack of them. She closes her eyes and her breathing is starting to even out a little, slower and deeper]
So... you get this? The sleeping thing? And learning stuff?
[there's a slight pause in the head patting as he thinks of how to best explain skills; the sleepiness doesn't dissipate, but it also doesn't get especially worse when he isn't actively applying it]
Mm, yeah. Most of my skills are related to beast taming, but I also have other support skills. I can boost someone's power or growth rate, things like that. No one's a hunter here, so it's not applicable.
[Well, that's all she can manage because she's out like a light now, curled up under the cardigan. Thanks Lethe. Also it's probably the most peaceful she's ever looked, amazing what it's like when you're actually comfortable and don't have five tons of stress weighing you down in the moment.]
once he's sure that she's asleep he slowly stops patting her head. he lets the silence stretch for a minute, listening to the sound of her breathing, watching for any wrinkles in her brow to make sure she is in fact getting some good sleep. then he gets up, grabs the nearest book on plants, and then comes right back to sit in his same spot and read while she naps. sweet dreams kiddo.
(the skill also has a restoration effect so she has the option of waking up feeling SUPER REFRESHED if you want)]

Anything's got to be more comfortable than one of those. Storage is better than sleeping.
no subject
[what's a nice way to say "a bunch of weirdos"]
...Some interesting people here. So it's better to sleep indoors.
no subject
[But she huffs, flopping over on a couch.]
no subject
[sits down cross-legged on the floor right next to the couch, so they're pretty much eye level]
Do you want a blanket?
no subject
... Maybe. A blanket wouldn't be so bad.
no subject
I don't think I have a blanket, but--
[holds out his hands and a big hand-knitted pink cardigan appears in them! offers it to her]
It's big enough that it should work.
no subject
but, she looks at the big ol' cardigan and then back at him a couple of times before—]
Where the heck did that come from!?
no subject
[throws it on her. its very warm]
no subject
Still kinda cool, though.

Mm... there's lots of people it could work on though... if it's like this...
no subject
Nah. The conditions behind most of my skills are pretty specific.
