[Ruby had been minding her business, as per usual. It's the best way to move around the Down safely, especially since she was on her way to meet Hubert and didn't want to be late. But... she was grabbed, a cloth full of chloroform shoved over her mouth and nose. It's not like she didn't try to fight them off, her knife in hand, but it clatters to the cement when the chloroform takes hold. It's left behind as the abductors cart off her unconscious body.
And then she woke up, being forced to stumble through a rocky tunnel that eventually led to some empty concrete room filled with buckets and dirt and it's all but impossible to find a place to sit without curling up against someone else. The harsh lights, the loud music... it's all too much.
She doesn't behave like she should at first, railing against her captors, but she's only carted back after being beaten and sprayed down with with a fire hose full of salt water. It's too much, and she behaves from there on out... but it still takes them a few mealtimes to give her rations again, and they certainly aren't considering her for a shower or anything because of her early behavior.
She's filthy and traumatized and spends a lot of time covering her ears to try to get some semblance of quiet or staring into space with tears running down her face. Her skin is mottled, shades of a million different sickly colors from the bruises, and she's got a black eye. She just wants someone to come save them. She wants it to be Hubert, but she's not even sure if he was kidnapped or not. She hopes he wasn't. But it's not like she knows who was kidnapped and who wasn't and just how many people were taken.
