[She raises and eyebrow, listening to the questions. She doesn't even bother to take in most of them, letting them roll off of her, because there's really only one, serious answer she can give.
And her eyes sharpen a little.]
He's the only thing I've got left anywhere. Is it really that hard to answer a question? Stop dodging.
[ He gets that. Seeing her expression and the tone of her voice, I nodded in understanding. Okay, he'll stop stalling now. ]
I'm glad you have each other, Ruby. Hold on to him, don't let him slip away, yea?
[ Exhaling and shifting to get himself more comfortable on the couch before he answered her question. ]
There is a lot about him that I'm drawn to. His looks obviously, and even though his attitude stinks, he's got a good heart, kindness and softness under that brash, rude shell he hides behind. I like him, Ruby, even if I know he'd rather hurt me and push me away. I intend to get closer to him. I want him to trust me, use me if he needs to and know that I'm not gonna pull away when he does. I don't want to look after him or baby him, I think he can do that all on his own, but I'd like to be there if he chooses to let someone other than you care for him. I hate to say that he reminds me of someone else, because he's his own guy, but his personality and that dry, stoic stare he has? I knew someone like that, someone close who I wished I'd had more time with. That's all.
[ That's all he says, so casually as he sets his eyes back to the screen, expectantly for her to start the DVD even though he assumes she'll have comments or questions about what he said. ]
[And honestly? She's satisfied. That's her read on him, too... at least, as of late, especially with their attempts at being honest with each other. But she knows him well, and knows his behavior, and knows the why behind it.
But she knows she's special when it comes to Aqua, so she doesn't have to fight for that softer side of him. Usually.
She presses play and the concert starts.]
I think you've got a good idea on what he's like. And I'm not gonna, don't worry.
[He already did once. She's not letting it happen again.]
[ Aki tosses her a side glance and a half smile. ]
I do? Good. Just don't tell him I said all of that. He'll probably run a mile. And I'm not going to answer any more questions about that. We're focusing on this DVD now, okay?
[ He's happy at least, for now. He thinks Ruby approves of his interest in her brother, not that he feels he needed her to vouch for him or anything; if anything, he gets the feeling that by getting closer to Ruby might jeopardise his chances with Aqua. Still, he likes her and he genuinely does want to help her with her career here. So, he'll just have to cross that bridge when he comes to it, huh? ]
Your secret's safe with me, promise. But I'm not gonna stop you from watching~
[And she doesn't. While there's a whole group, there's clearly one girl that stands out from the rest... and Ruby is honestly a photocopy of her, hair and eye color aside.]
Look at her, she's so amazing! I could watch this a million times and never get tired of it!
[ Aki sits forward a little to get a better look. Yeah, Ruby looks like her, like a lot. He smiles a little. Ai's hair is longer, but it's more or less the same colour as a dear friend of his from back home. She looks young,g but then again, pretty people tend to age well in Japan. ]
Of course I do. I revived the group and we perform all the old songs, I have to know them... but I've still been able to do all these dances since I was little.
[She sighs happily, though, watching Ai dance across the screen.]
[ He says with a little smile as he looks at her. Watching the way her eyes light up when she's watching the show. It's sweet, how proud she is, how she wants to be just like her. It's hard not to be endeared. ]
I could show you if you wanted? Or do you just want to wait for a show? Because the stuff I do in shows is a lot easier than the stuff I can do. I'm like, really good.
[She knows her strengths and what she's best at. She had to keep things simpler for the sake of people performing with her... and the fact that it was easier to sing if the dance was easier. But otherwise? She's not shy about how much she loves to dance.]
[ Aki ponders for a long moment, looking at the screen, then back to Ruby. He has no doubt in his mind that she's gonna be good. The thing is, does he want to wait or have a private show? ]
I'd like that, sure. How about you dance for me now? After all, it's not every day that I'm gonna get a private performance from you when you're a huge star here, is it?
[ He chuckled and smiled softly, relaxed in her company. ]
[Ruby pauses the concert for a moment, before pulling out her phone and pulling up a song. She freestyles most of it, but she knows what she's doing and it's very clear she's good at it.]
[ Aki believes it. Settling back and watching her dance, he can’t help but be impressed. He’s never had a personal performance before!
He doesn’t know if he should be clapping and cheering him on, that’s not really his thing, but it should be clear he’s enjoying the show by the uncharacteristic hint of colour in his cheeks and a little bounce of his foot to the beat now and then. ]
